Weekend Lane Closures Near NIH Planned

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will close two northbound lanes of Rockville Pike (MD 355) between Woodmont Avenue and Center Drive, near the Medical Center Metro Station, NIH, and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Naval Support Activity Bethesda, according to a notice from the BRAC coordinator office of Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett.

Weather permitting, these two northbound lanes will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Friday, May 19, through 5 a.m. Monday, May 22.

These lane closures are part of the ongoing construction of the Crossing Project at the Medical Center Metro Station, which will establish a pedestrian underpass between NIH and Walter Reed, and deep elevators on the Navy side of MD 355 to the Metrorail mezzanine. Construction of the Crossing Project is expected to last through mid-2021.
