One Act and More:  The Upcounty Theatre Company performs their first-ever One Act Plays festival featuring five plays, The Box, Trifles, Little Sal and Maria, Little Sal and Maria Scare Momma, and Cusumano.  Friday and Saturday, August 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown. For more information, click here. $20.

Round House Open House:  Round House is reopening in Bethesda following renovations to the theater. The open house will feature performances, workshops, food and family activities. Silver Spring Jazz Festival:  The sounds of jazz will fill Veterans Plaza as the Silver Spring Jazz Festival returns for its 16th year. Grammy and Emmy award winner Arturo Sandoval headlines the festival which features two performance stages. Hometown favorite Marcus Johnson and his band perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 24 from 3 to 10 p.m. Veterans Plaza, 1 Veterans Place, Silver Spring. Click here for more information. Free.

Sweet Honey in the Rock: A capella ensemble perform a collection of songs both old and new rooted in the African American history and culture. Sweet Honey in the Rock formed as a quartet at a workshop at the D.C. Black Repertory Theater Company. Original members drew their name from the first song they learned, “Sweet Honey in the Rock,” based on a Biblical psalm. In their 40 year history, the members have created diverse mixtures of blues, African, jazz, gospel and R&B music, with excursions into symphonic and dance theater.  Saturday, August 24 at 8 p.m.  Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club, 7719 Wisconsin Ave.  For more information, click here. $45-$55.

Big Tony and Trouble Funk: Bandleader, bassist and vocalist Tony “Big Tony” Fisher leads Trouble Funk as they perform classic Go-Go. Their music blends up-tempo funk with percussion, horns, vocals and of course the trademark audience call and response.  Sunday, August 25 at 7 p.m.  Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club, 7719 Wisconsin Ave.  For more information, click here. $30.

Harvest Moon Festival:  This annual festival features music and dance from around the globe, including Didgeridoo Experience with Chris Colvin (Australian Aboriginal), Orfeia (Bulgarian choral music), Polyphony Marimba (Music of Zimbabwe), White House Dance Studios (Caribbean dance), DC Highlife Stars (African dance music), and Rafael Ortiz y Tumbao Urbano (Latin/Salsa).  Sunday, August 25 from 1-9 p.m. Veterans Plaza, Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive.
