Volunteers Recognized For Their Commitment to Local Media at Annual Monty Awards (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

The television shows you often see on Access 19 and Montgomery Channel 21 and the content for the MyMCMedia website has a lot to do with the many volunteers and contributors across Montgomery County.  To honor their work and commitment, MyMCMedia honored the volunteers at the 2016 Monty awards ceremony on Sunday evening at the Black Rock Center for the Arts in Germantown.

“All of these volunteers being recognized tonight play such an integral role in telling the stories of the county,” said Montgomery Councilmember Nancy Navarro.

Awards were presented by Director of Communications for the City of Laurel, Audrey Barnes.

“If you tried to just rely on network television to tell the story of what’s going on in your local communities, it won’t happen,” said Barnes. “You got to get the community people involved in telling your stories.”

“I’m a student at MyMCMedia and I’m learning the studio tech class right now,” said student volunteer Andrew Krivitskiy. “I think this class is very beneficial so I can apply to any local news station in the future.”
