Use Your “Reporter Voice” (Photos)

What a fun-filled busy day at the Backpack Journalism Academy! I didn’t think we could fit in so much in one class, but we did! Our morning started off with a recap of yesterday’s class and then MCM’s very own Tamika Smith came in to talk about reporting. She showed us some of her stories she has worked on. The journalists zeroed in on one thing in particular – her “reporter voice”! One student asked if that was really her in the clip she played. Tamika was great and read a story using her “reporter voice” and our journalists were pleased. I bet they are still trying to work on theirs right now. We also got to practice our interview techniques, camera work and how to use the Sony Bloggie and the infamous “Around the Building with the Bloggie” scavenger hunt.  I told you it was a busy day. Our reporters hit the street this afternoon to work on their stories. I know I asked you before, but if you see one of them out and about, stop and give them an interview. I can’t wait to see what stories they bring back on Monday.

Until then, here’s a look at what we did today:
