The state-of-the-art, one story station is projected to serve over 40,000 residents.

Its primary response area covers a 13-square-mile area which includes Traville, Fallsgrove, western Rockville, Travilah, and North Potomac. This area’s population is expected to significantly increase with the planned development of the Johns Hopkins University Belward Campus, Life Sciences Center expansion, Crown Village community, Bright View Assisted Living Facility, and an eventual mixed use development on the property currently occupied by the county’s Public Safety Training Academy.

This 26,000-square-feet structure currently houses an Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine company, a Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulance, an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) officer, and command staff capabilities which provide critical infrastructural response support to meet the community’s continued development.

Featuring four, drive-through, apparatus bays, Fire Station 32’s design incorporates dormitory accommodations, a kitchen and dining room, a multi-use lounge, and an exercise room.  It also includes a training room and several administrative offices designed for public safety use. The facility has also achieved a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver rating for incorporating sustainable and environmentally-sensitive design elements.

Fire Station 32 is initially projected to respond to over five thousand emergency calls annually. Drivers will see an increase in emergency vehicle traffic in the area and are reminded to “move to the right for sirens and lights.” Additionally, pedestrians and cyclists in the area should be alert when traveling in the area.

The official dedication ceremony for Travilah Fire Station 32 is planned for later this spring. Until then, additional information about the new station can be found at:
