Town Hall on Challenging Trump Planned for Sunday in Silver Spring

Some of Montgomery County’s top politicians will take part in a town hall meeting Sunday, led by the Takoma Park Mobilization, that will discuss how to challenge President Trump.

Rep. Jamie Raskin will speak on “One Nation Under the Constitution: How the People and Congress Can Stop a Lawless President,” according to a flier advertising the event.

In addition to Raskin, Sen. Chris Van Hollen is expected to attend along with County Council President Roger Berliner; council members Marc Elrich, Tom Hucker and Hans Riemer; state lawmakers; and Gustavo Torres, executive director of Casa de Maryland.

The town hall begins at 6:30 p.m. and takes place at the Silver Spring Civic Center.

Within 24 hours of the event announcement, 825 tickets were taken. Attendants are driven by concerns about Trump’s policies and leadership, the flier says. Participants will respond to questions on health care, immigration, economic justice, civil rights and civil liberties, LGBTQ protections, electoral reform, education, reproductive rights, and the environment, according to the flier.

If you didn’t get tickets, you can watch the livestream, here.

I’m sorry to be out of town during the forum of concerns about policy agenda of the Trump administration but very happy it has been so widely supported by our US and state representatives. I’m hoping to attend to come to the next one!
