Three Suspects Charged with Theft and Stolen Vehicle Offenses in Aspen Hill
Montgomery County Police charged three suspects with theft and stolen vehicle-related offenses in Aspen Hill last week.
34-year-old Christopher Wells, 36-year-old Marcus Wells of Temple Hills, and 31-year-old Nitalia Rivera, of Capitol Heights, were arrested after officers responded to the Home Depot located on the 14000 block of Georgia Avenue for the report of a shoplifting on August 25.
Home Depot loss prevention personnel stated to police that one suspect had stolen approximately $1,800 worth of merchandise from the store and was currently inside a pick-up truck in the store parking lot. After obtaining the suspect’s vehicle’s license plate number, a computer check showed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen on July 25 from Anne Arundel County.
Responding officers observed two suspects sitting inside the truck and a third suspect placing stolen property from Home Depot into the truck’s bed.
According to an MCPD press release, Christopher Wells immediately fled on foot from officers. A short time later, officers located him hiding inside another nearby store on Georgia Avenue. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that he sustained after jumping a fence while fleeing.
The other two suspects, Marcus Wells and Rivera, did not flee and were arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit. Marcus Wells was released after posting a $6,500 bond. Rivera was released after posting a $2,500 bond according to authorities.
On August 31, Christopher Wells was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including theft of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. He was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
