Teenager in Critical Condition After Being Hit by a Car
A 13-year-old girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car on Friday evening while riding her bike in Bethesda.
According to a Montgomery County Police press release, on Nov. 8, around 5:45 p.m. the teen was riding her bicycle in the crosswalk of northbound Old Georgetown Road at the entrance ramp on the inner loop of I-495 when she was hit by a car driven by 83-year-old Nanak Singh Manku of McLean, Virginia.
An investigation revealed that Manku had exited the inner loop of I-495 onto southbound Old Georgetown Road and was attempting to re-enter the inner loop of I-495 on the northbound side of Old Georgetown Road.
The juvenile bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officials say Manku was not injured.
Police have not yet said if any charges against the driver are pending. This is an ongoing investigation.
