Takoma Park Police Collecting Tablets, Cell Phones

Takoma Park Police and Secure the Call are partnering to supply iPads, Android tablets and Amazon tablets so people can see and speak with their loved ones who are isolated during the global pandemic.

Secure the Call, a volunteer organization, has been collecting old cell phones and converting them to be used for 911 emergencies. Now this national organization has signed up hospitals and nursing homes, who have requested the larger screen devices.

Before donating, Apple users should delete their iCloud account. Android users should remove their google account and passcode.

The phones and tablets can be dropped off at the Takoma Park Police Department, 7500 Maple Avenue, in a collection barrel on the first floor lobby. They also can be mail for free after obtaining a post office label.
