Takoma Park Police Chief Search Update
Takoma Park city officials are looking to hire an executive search firm to assist the City Manager in selecting the next police chief.
This comes after a series of meetings and public hearings with residents in June to discuss the hiring process and learning more from the community about the qualities they desire in the next chief of police.
Proposals from qualified executive search firms were due on July 7. The city is looking to hire a firm with a strong record of municipal government experience.
“The Council approval for the executive firm selection is going to take place on July 26,” Jeremy Dickey, spokesperson for the City of Takoma Park said.
City officials, according to Dickey, are hoping to fill the position by October.
Former Chief Alan Goldberg resigned earlier this year after serving more than four years with the department.
In the meantime, Takoma Park police captains, Capt. Dan Frishkorn, Capt. Tyrone Collington and Capt. Richard Bowers, are rotating acting chief responsibilities.
