These are the JOY Supernovas of Montgomery County!  Although competitive cheer has been a sport for special Olympics Maryland the past 11 years, this year- for the first time ever, the world cheerleading championships now include a Special Olympics division. The JOY Supernovas have been selected to represent the United States.

There was a big turnout at Largent’s restaurant and bar on June 22 for the USA vs. Portugal World Cup game. The Kentlands crowd cheered wildly as team USA scored its first goal to tie the game and then another to take the lead. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
