Suburban Hospital Holds Ceremony for New Building

Suburban Hospital in Bethesda held an opening ceremony Friday for its new north building. The opening marks the end of a two-phase reconstruction project that began in 2015.

Patients are expected to move into the building the second week of March, with operations and surgeries to begin in the third week of March.

The hospital serves as a trauma center, stroke center, and a place where surgeons can perform open-heart surgeries. Operations like those don’t exist at every community hospital, and it’s part of what makes Suburban Hospital unique, said President of the Johns Hopkins Health System Kevin Sowers.

Sowers said the relationships patients form with physicians, nurses, housekeepers and all employees at the hospital are what makes their experiences so memorable.
