SoberRide Available For July Fourth Holiday

Montgomery County police officers are reminding motorists to drive safely this holiday and to choose a sober driver. The police will have additional officers on duty to enforce impaired-driving laws.  The Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s 2018 Independence Day SoberRide program will be offering free Lyft rides to keep drivers from drinking and getting behind the wheel. The free service is available from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 until 4 a.m. July 5.

To receive a free Lyft ride home (up to a $15), use the Lyft app on a smartphone, then enter a code in the app’s “Promo” section. WRAP’s July 4 SoberRide promo code will be posted Wednesday at 5 p.m. on www.soberride.com. You must be 21 or older to use the SoberRide service.

WRAP’s SoberRide, founded in 1982, has helped to ensure greater Washington, DC residents have a safe way home on high-risk holidays, according to a news release. Since 1991, WRAP has provided over 72,377 safe rides home. Currently, SoberRide operates during the December/January holiday season, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Independence Day and Halloween
