Sligo Middle School Students Host a Day of S’TEAM in Silver Spring (VIDEO)

Students from Sligo Middle School in Silver Spring hosted the first S’TEAM Sligo Community Day Festival on Sept 26. The S’TEAM field day was organized by 28 students in seventh and eighth grades who worked throughout the summer on multi-disciplinary projects that included science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

Schools officials said students had hands-on experience while learning about Sligo Creek’s water quality, collecting data about plants, rocks, and more- all found in the nearby park.

The afternoon of learning and sharing was a partnership between Sligo Middle School, Passion for Learning , Big Learning and Class Acts Arts through a $150,000 grant from the Trawick Foundation.

Love how they played with the word STEM to make it their own! Very inspiring to see kids interested in technology.
