Silver Spring Man Convicted in Rockville Metro Stabbing

A jury found Reginald Cooper, 38, guilty on two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Cooper, a Silver Spring resident, stabbed two people while they were waiting for their bus at the Rockville Metro station in December 2014. He faces up to 60 years in prison, according to officials from the Montgomery County State’s Attorney Office.

“The Public should rest assured that this major offender is off the streets.  he stabbed two innocent by-standers waiting to take their bus to their English class at 6 AM on a weekday morning and were stabbed within inches of death – and now their assailant could be put behind bars for a substantial part of his adult life.  We look forward to the maximum sentence in this matter” said State’s Attorney John McCarthy.

McCarthy announced Cooper’s conviction on July 8.

According to case documents, both victims were taken to a local hospital.

Cooper is scheduled to be sentenced on September 25.
