Silver Spring Man Arrested on Firearm and Drug Charges

Kossi Mensah, 34

Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers arrested and charged Kossi Mensah, 34, of Silver Spring for firearm-related offenses, drug possession and distribution, according to a statement from MCPD.

At around 6:45 p.m. on March 4, officers noticed what they thought was a drug transaction in White Oak. They saw Mensah on foot and a person in a car. When the transaction was over, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on the car after it left. The car did not stop and the driver threw a bag of marijuana out of the window as he accelerated away.

Other officers approached Mensah as he walked toward the White Oak Shopping Center, and he ran while reaching toward his waist. Officers followed Mensah and arrested him.

Police found marijuana on his person, and crack cocaine, ecstasy, eutylone and a loaded handgun that he threw on the ground. Due to previous criminal convictions, Mensah is prohibited from having a firearm. He is being held without bond.
