Silver Spring Homicide Arrest

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with a homicide that occurred earlier on Oct. 13 in Silver Spring.

According to police, on Oct. 13 at approximately 3:25 a.m., patrol officers from the 3rd District responded to an apartment at 1220 East West Highway, after one of the occupants called 911 requesting assistance.

When officers arrived, police said, they made contact with the 23-year-old female who made the 911 call.  Police said two males were also inside the apartment.

According to police, one of the males was suffering from what appeared to be cutting wounds and was unresponsive.  Police said he was pronounced deceased on the scene.  The other male was taken into custody and subsequently charged with homicide, according to police.

Police have identified the victim as Mark Edward Waugh, age 23, of Great Falls, Virginia.

Detectives have charged Rahul Gupta, age 24, with homicide.  Police said Gupta has an address in McLean, Virginia but is also known to frequent the East West Highway address.
