Silver Spring Downtown Has a New Website

Whether it is arts, nightlife, dining or shopping, the new Silver Spring Downtown website has a little of everything.

Downtown Silver Spring New WebsiteSilver Spring Regional Director Reemberto Rodriguez said the new online portal is the official website for the Silver Spring Regional Area- a Montgomery County region which is south of the beltway, east to the Prince George’s County line, south to the Washington D.C. line and west to Rock Creek Park.

Rodriguez said when visiting the new website residents can find information about what is happening in downtown, new restaurants, community events, and festivals.

“We get nearly one hundred thousand hits a month,” Rodriguez said when talking about the former Silver Spring Downtown website. His weekly News-U-Can-Share and Sample Happenings has more details about events not only in Silver Spring but also in surrounding areas.

Rodriguez has been the regional director for the past six years. He said a lot has changed in downtown including the number of people who visit the area.

“One of the biggest changes is the number of feet in Silver Spring has more than quadruple. … The Fillmore [for instance] brings at least two thousand people routinely to Silver Spring,” he said.

Rodriguez added that places like the Silver Spring Civic Building and Veteran’s Plaza had a major impact on the growth of Silver Spring. He also praised community events like the Maker Faire, Fenton Street Market, and ethnic festivals.

“What an amazing group of civic entrepreneurs. … It’s a very good feeling to be working with [them],” he said.
