A Pop up Holiday Market to Support Local Artists in Silver Spring

The Fenton Street Market, a weekly marketplace in Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring, is hosting an opening party to celebrate its holiday pop-up store at the upstairs gallery space inside Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Silver Spring.

HOLIDAZE The Holidaze marketplace is scheduled to open on select dates, starting Dec. 2 through Dec. 23 where visitors can shop for jewelry, handbags, watches, t-shirts, organic soaps, among others.

“It’s the Fenton Street Market experience but inside,” said Megan Moriarty, manager for Fenton Street Market.

But the marketplace will not look like the regular Fenton Street Market.

“It’s going to look like you’re walking in a store. … We have some really cool Silver Spring products,” Moriarty said.

Moriarty said the pop up store is just another way to help support local artists, and show residents that they can shop local this holiday season.

“It’s really nice to give someone a present and tell the story behind that present. … There’s more of a human connection,” Moriarty said.

Approximately 30 vendors will be selling their products, and price ranges from $5 to $150.

“Very reasonable price for gifts in the twenties, thirties, and forty dollars range. … You’re paying for the handmade touch,” she said.
