Signs stating “it’s okay to be white” were posted on 10 external doors of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, prompting a letter home to parents.

Similar signs have been reported around the country.

The signs were first seen at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday on 10 exterior doors by school staff, according to a letter from Renay Johnson, the Montgomery Blair principal.

Staff removed the flyers before students arrived and contacted Johnson and school security, according to the letter.

“We are taking this seriously and are investigating this incident. Our research so far has indicated that this may be part of a concerted national campaign to foment racial and political tension in our school and community. This same flyer was posted in other cities and communities this week,” Johnson’s letter says.

Anyone with information is asked to make a confidential call to the school’s security team leader, Darryl Cooper, at 301-649-2800.

News reports say the signs have appeared elsewhere, including Tulane University.

The signs appear to have started on message boards, including 4chan and hollaforums.

The boards have similar instructions: Use identical posters, hang the signs on campuses and wear a Halloween costume when hanging the signs for anonymity. One online post says the signs will destroy the credibility of far left campuses and the media, which will draw more people to their cause.

So am I to take this to mean that the school staff at this school believe I should have been born some other color than white? Last time I checked, race isn’t a choice. It should be okay to be whatever color anybody happens to be. Yet another effort to stifle free speech.
