Several Volunteers Honored At The Annual Montgomery Serves Awards (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

It was a night to celebrate the individuals and local organizations that make a difference in our county.

To commemorate National Volunteer Month, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett presented awards to several outstanding volunteers at the fourth annual Montgomery Serves Awards on April 27 at Imagination Stage in Bethesda.

Montgomery County Volunteer Center took its time to honor those with extraordinary stories.

Leggett honored volunteers in four categories: youth, business, individual and group.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Youth Award
    Yidong Hu
  • Business Award
    Washington Gas
  • Community Service – Individual Award
    Darren Duvall
  • Community Service – Group Award
    Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Leggett also presented the Roscoe R. Nix Distinguished Community Leadership Award to Jennie Forehand, Inez Zeigler McAbee, and U.S. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez.

The Neal Potter Path of Achievement Award was presented to Jean Brady and Karin Wilson. While the World of Montgomery Public Citizen of The Year Award recipient was former Congressman Michael Barnes.
