UPDATED: Shelter in Place Orders Lifted at All Schools
UPDATED Montgomery County Public Schools have lifted shelter in place orders for the five schools in the Aspen Hill area. Students at Parkland Middle, Strathmore Elementary, Georgian Forest Elementary, Brookhaven Elementary and Harmony Hills Elementary schools are being dismissed at the normal time.
All shelters-in-place have been lifted and school dismissals will continue on time

UPDATED Montgomery County Public Schools officials have announced that all schools are now on shelter in place at the request of the Montgomery County Police Department.
In addition, Montgomery Parks and Montgomery Recreation has announced its facilities are on lockdown until further notice.
Due to shootings at Montgomery Mall and Aspen Hill Shopping Center, all Montgomery Parks facilities are on lockdown until further notice.

A spokesperson for Montgomery County Public Schools says seven schools have been ordered to shelter in place following a shooting in the parking lot at Montgomery Mall around 11 a.m. today.
According to MCPS, the schools sheltering in place include Parkland Middle, Tilden Middle, Walter Johnson High, Ashburton Elementary, Seven Locks Elementary, Meadow Hall Elementary and Bells Mill Elementary schools.
Shelter in place means that the instructional day continues but all exterior doors are locked.
In addition, the Montgomery Recreation Department has announced that all recreation facilities are on lockdown until further notice.
