Senior Centers Will Reopen Throughout Montgomery County Starting June 14
Senior centers throughout Montgomery County will reopen starting June 14. Of the seven county senior centers, the Wheaton and White Oak locations will remain COVID-19 vaccination sites for now.
County Executive Marc Elrich breaks down which facilities will provide in-person senior services.
According to a Montgomery County Recreation Department press release:
- The Holiday Park Senior Center located on Ferrara Drive in Silver Spring and Damascus Senior Center located on Main Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- North Potomac Senior Center, located on Travilah Road in Rockville, and the White Oak Senior Center located on April Lane in Silver Spring will reopen Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Tuesday, June 15.
- Also, beginning Tuesday, June 15, the grassy area of the Long Branch Outdoor Pool located on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring will be used to provide senior activities from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday as the weather permits.
- The Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center located on Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday beginning Saturday, June 19.
“Reopening our facilities safely is one of our highest priorities,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Robin Riley. “COVID-19 has been hard for everyone and our seniors are one of the hardest hit groups. Throughout the pandemic we have successfully provided virtual programs and outdoor programs, and now we can safely begin the reopening of our Centers.”
