Seneca Valley Upsets Previously Unbeaten Rockville

In a stunner at John Harvill Stadium Seneca Valley upsets previously unbeaten Rockville 14-9.

Seneca Valley holds on to defeat Rockville 14-9

What looked early on to be a defensive match between these two teams turned quickly into an offensive fourth quarter struggle.  Both teams went into the locker rooms at halftime with Rockville up 3-0 and Seneca Valley celebrating their homecoming event.  John Harvill Stadium is Seneca’s home away from home during their uber-facility rebuild in Germantown.

Seneca Valley came out emboldened after halftime scoring on a 47 yard touchdown run then blocking a 3rd quarter Seneca Valley field goal to take a 6-3 lead into the 4th.  Rockville responded at the 8:45 mark in the 4th with a score and failed extra point attempt to take a 9-6 lead.  Four minutes later Seneca Valley scored on a 13 yard TD pass and then made the 2 point conversion to push ahead by a score of 14-9.

As the homecoming crowd cheered Seneca Valley thwarted a late Rockville scoring drive holding the ball for the last 70 seconds of the game to walk away with the upset win.  The homecoming fans then stormed the field.
