Senator Mikulski Meets with Eagle Scout from Sandy Spring (PHOTO)
U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski met with Ian Napoleon, an 18-year-old Eagle Scout from Sandy Spring, who is serving as a national delegate to deliver the “2015 Boy Scouts of America Report to the Nation” to federal government leaders.
“I am so proud to salute Ian Napoleon, who has demonstrated his leadership and commitment to serving his community, and by representing Maryland as a national delegate,” said Mikulski, Co-Leader of Honorary Troop 1, a Girl Scout Troop of the Women of the Senate. “As a Girl Scout, I know firsthand the important role Scouting plays in teaching leadership and community service. I will continue to take the lessons I learned in the Girl Scouts – helping people at all times and being honest, fair, friendly and helpful – with me to the United States every day. Ian and Scouts across the Maryland are future leaders in our communities, working to make the world a safer, stronger and smarter place to live.”
Ian is one of ten youth delegates from across the United States selected to represent the Boy Scouts of America in presenting the organization’s annual Report to the Nation, which details Scouting accomplishments in 2015. Delegates were selected from among 2.3 million youth members to present the annual report. The delegation this week visited with and delivered the report to key U.S. Cabinet members and House and Senate leadership. The complete Report to the Nation is available online at ScoutingNewsroom.org.
