Panels will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be hosted by Montgomery County Media (MCM) at its Rockville studios.

The conference will feature a diverse list of speakers who will discuss the significant impact of the shifting demographics resulting from the rapid growth of the Latino community.

Councilmember Navarro and Williams will appear on a panel on “Civic Engagement and the Latino Community” from 11-11:45 a.m. The panel will be moderated by Nicole Quiroga, general manager of Telemundo WZDC. Others on that panel will include Stephanie Valencia, deputy chief of staff to Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and the former principal deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, and Alma Morales Riojas, president and CEO of MANA.

“The 2010 Census results show the Latino community grew by 106 percent in Maryland, with more than half the growth in Montgomery County,” said Navarro, who just completed a one-year term as the Council’s first Latina president. “This event will explore a variety of issues of importance to the Latino Community. I am excited to share some of the efforts that I have worked on in order to promote the active participation of the Latino and immigrant communities.”

The conference will be held in MCM “Studio A” at 7548 Standish Place in Rockville.

Advance registration is required and available here. The conference also can be viewed as it is live streamed on the Montgomery Community Media website. That link is available for use on mobile devices, computers, laptops, tablets, Android, iOS and Apple devices.
