Nothing motivates a runner to hit the pavement day after day than a good old-fashioned road race, and the Darcars Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest, which benefits Rockville’s Youth Recreation Fund, is one of the best in the area.

The runfest welcomes people of all ages and skill levels and offers participants a choice of races to enter – the 8K (with a wheelchair division) or the Family Fitness Run/Walk (choose from a 1K or 2-mile route). Races start at 8 and 8:45 p.m.

The races start at 8 p.m. (1K fun run),  8:40 p.m. (8K wheelchair division),  and 8:45 p.m. (8K), and  on North Washington Street in town center. The course runs through Rockville neighborhoods and the Montgomery College-Rockville Campus and turns south on Rockville Pike as it returns to town center. Festivities include:

  • Pre- and post-race music by Lloyd Dobler Effect
  • Post-race refreshments and drinks for runners
  • Awards

Packet pick up is at City Sports in the new Pike and Rose Shopping Center. Their address is 11600 Old Georgetown Road.

The race benefits the Rockville Recreation Fund and Rockville Rotary Foundation, which provides financial assistance to Rockville children who may not otherwise be able to participate in city recreation programs.

For more information about the race or to register to run, go to www.rockvilletwilighter.org or call 240-314-8620. Also, “like” Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest on Facebook for the latest updates.
