Ride On to Hold Two Public Forums on Proposed Service Cuts (VIDEO)

Officials from the Montgomery County Department of Transportation are scheduled to host two public forums on Sept. 17 and 24 to give residents a chance to comment on proposed changes to Ride On’s bus service.

Ride On Bus 450x280Proposed changes includes route eliminations to help close the budget shortfall the county faces in FY16. County officials will consider all comments received by Sept. 30.

According to a news release, the following routes are being considered for elimination: Route 42 weekday, Saturday and Sunday service; Route 98 weekday, Saturday and Sunday service; and, Route 83 Saturday and Sunday service. The routes proposed are among the lowest performing in Ride On’s system.

The forums are expected to start at 6:30 p.m. on

– Sept. 17 at the UpCounty Regional Services Center at 12900 Middlebrook Road in Germantown;

Sept. 24 at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street in Rockville.

Anyone who wish to speak at either public forum are requested to provide in writing their name, home address, telephone number, email address and organization to the Division of Transit Services, Ride On Public Forum, 101 Monroe Street, 5th Floor, Rockville, MD 20850.

Those wishing to speak at the Germantown forum must provide this information on or before Sept. 14, and for the Rockville forum information must be provided on or before Sept. 21.  Officials ask people who have signed up to speak to bring two printed copies of their testimony for the record.

    I wish that there was a bus. That would come down mateny or great s. On the weekend everyone is not able to walk all the time, I hope that something could be done. Thanks
