Renaming Ceremony Scheduled at JoAnn Leleck Elementary School at Broad Acres

A renaming event is scheduled on Thursday to celebrate the new name for Broad Acres Elementary School as the JoAnn Leleck Elementary School at Broad Acres, named for the former principal’s leadership and commitment to that school’s community.

In September, the Montgomery County Board of Education renamed Broad Acres Elementary School in honor of Leleck, who served as principal from 1999 to 2004. As principal, Leleck oversaw a remarkable turnaround at one of the most impacted schools in the district, according to a news release from the school system.

Leleck, who served as an educator for 26 years, died in 2012.

The rededication ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. on May 14 at the school located at 710 Beacon Road in Silver Spring.
