Rabies Vaccination Clinics at the Animal Shelter
Every year, County officials say an average of 40 animals are confirmed by laboratory analysis to be rabid in Montgomery County. Although most of these are wild animals, such as raccoons, foxes, and bats there have been several rabid cats in Montgomery County within the last five years.
Officials say rabies is 100-percent preventable and that’s why the animal shelter is offering rabies clinics from now thru September.
Rabies vaccination clinics are held on the third Sunday of each month from 8 – 10:30 a.m. at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center, at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.
Gaithersburg, Rockville and Montgomery County cats and dogs can be vaccinated for rabies for free after pet licenses are purchased at the clinic. There is a $4 fee for ferrets and out of county residents.
Upcoming clinics will be held May 17, June 21, July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 20.
