Q & A: Author Sarah Pekkanen’s Summer Book Recommendations
I find that I read more books in the summertime than any other time of the year. I recently asked one of my favorite authors, Sarah Pekkanen, who is a Montgomery County resident, to share her summer book list.
Sonya: What are you reading right now?
Sarah: “I just picked up Brene Brown‘s THE GIFTS OF IMPERFECTION after seeing her TED talk and being wowed by her smarts and charm. So far the book is fascinating! And I think the message of being gentler with ourselves is one we all need to hear.”
Sonya: What five books do you recommend for summer reading?
Sarah: “This summer I’m recommending some terrific beach novels: ALL FALL DOWN by Jennifer Weiner, ONE PLUS ONE by JoJo Moyes, which I just reviewed for The Washington Post, AFTER I DO by Taylor Jenkins Reid, THE STAGER by Susan Coll, and FIVE DAYS LEFT by Julie Lawson Timmer.”
Sonya: Do you find that you read more in the summer than other months or no?
Sarah: “Maybe a little bit more, because I always bring along book when I take the kids to the pool and I end up reading instead of going into the water – but I’m rarely without a book in hand during the year’s other seasons!”
