Proposed Styrofoam Ban to Be Discussed by County Committee Today
A Montgomery County Council committee is scheduled to discuss today a bill that would ban the use of styrofoam as packaging for most food products.
The meeting is to be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Third Floor Conference Room before the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee, which is chaired by Councilmember Roger Berliner and includes Councilmembers Nancy Floreen and Hans Riemer. The bill, whose chief sponsor is Riemer and which is co-sponsored by Councilmembers George Leventhal and Marc Elrich, would prohibit the use of certain expanded polystyrene (styrofoam) packaging for food products.
