Three people were injured Tuesday morning after an explosion and collapse at a commercial site in Laytonsville, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials said.

MCFRS responded to 23601 Laytonsville Road shortly before 8 a.m. Ruppert Landscape is headquartered and manages its corporate office at the location.

One person was rescued from the building, said Battalion Chief Jason Blake. That victim was flown out via helicopter with traumatic injuries, Fire and Rescue Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

Piringer said a propane explosion occurred and the structure sustained heavy damage. There was no fire following the explosion/collapse.

The MCFRS Technical Rescue Team stabilized the structure. Laytonsville Road from Hipsley Mill Road to Griffith Road was closed following the incident, Montgomery County Police said. Blake said the scene was stabilizing and the incident was scaling down around 9:30 a.m.
