Police Charge Delgado with Gaithersburg Homicide (Photo)
UPDATED 11.23.13 Montgomery County police have charged Jefferson Daniel Delgado (20) of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring with first degree murder in connection with the homicide of Michael Kirby Alvarado (25) that occurred at 438 North Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg on Nov. 21.
Detectives said they obtained an arrest warrant on Nov. 22 based on information that the suspect was in the Silver Spring area. Police said the suspect was arrested at 8 p.m. on Nov. 22 as he attempted to flee from a vehicle that detectives stopped.
Police believe that Delgado and Alvarado knew each other although the exact nature of their relationship is still under investigation, according to a police statement. The investigation into other suspects is still ongoing and no further information is being released.

Montgomery County police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Olde Towne Gaithersburg at approximately 2:28 p.m. on Nov. 21.
That’s when city of Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police responded to the report of a shooting at 438 North Summit Avenue.
According to a police statement, officers located an adult male on the sidewalk in front of the building suffering from one or more gunshot wounds. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives have identified the victim as Michael Kirby Alvarado, 25, of Benji Court in Gaithersburg.
Witnesses, police said, reported seeing two suspects leave the area on foot. Police said one suspect was wearing a black and white striped shirt while the other suspect was wearing all black clothing.
The neighborhood and surrounding areas were searched by patrol officers and K-9 teams with the assistance of a Maryland State Police helicopter but the suspects were not located.
During this investigation, three nearby schools, Gaithersburg Elementary, Gaithersburg Middle and Forest Oak Middle were locked down and dismissal was delayed.

Montgomery County police and Gaithersburg police are investigating a fatal shooting in the 400 block of North Summit Avenue in Olde Towne.
According to an Alert Gaithersburg message, there is an active police investigation at 436 North Summit Avenue and three schools were locked down for over an hour during the police response: Forest Oak Middle, Gaithersburg Elementary and Gaithersburg Middle.
Montgomery County police spokesperson Angela Cruz said police received a report of the shooting at 2:28 p.m. on Nov. 21.
On the department’s Twitter account, police are reporting that the shooting victim is an adult male and a search for a suspect remains in progress.
