Police Seek Man Who Racked Up $15,000 on Stolen Credit Card
Montgomery County police hope someone can identify a man in a surveillance photo who is believed to have charged more than $15,000 worth of jewelry to a stolen credit card.
On Sunday, Aug. 5, a man was at the Lakewood Country Club at 13901 Glen Mill Road, Rockville, when his wallet was stolen, police said.
Police said the man was unaware of the theft until his bank called him to say that a large credit card purchase was made at Jared The Galleria of Jewelry store at 12101 Rockville Pike, Rockville.
Police determined that the thief fraudulently purchased more than $15,000 worth of jewelry and then tried to use the credit card to buy more than $1,100 worth of merchandise at the Home Depot at 21010 Frederick Road, Germantown. The victim’s bank declined the Home Depot transaction, police said.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Bethesda police district officers at 240-773-6747 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest. To be eligible for a reward, tipsters must call Crime Solvers. Callers may remain anonymous.
