Police Reveal Identity of Body Found in Brookeville

The body that was found in a shallow grave in Brookville two weeks ago has been identified as a 19-year-old from Silver Spring who has been missing since September, a Montgomery County police statement said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the body as Harry Ryan Detwiler, of the the 10700 block of Margate Road, Silver Spring, police said.

A man walking his dogs discovered what he believed to be human bones Sunday, Nov. 12, in a wooded area in the 19500 block of Georgia Avenue in Brookeville, police said.

Wheaton District officers searched the area and found a shallow grave that contained skeletal remains, police said.

The cause and manner of death are pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.
