Police Respond to Barricade Situation in Silver Spring

UPDATED, Feb. 9, 2:37 p.m. Police said the man fatally shot himself. The situation is over, according to police.

UPDATED, Feb. 9, 11 a.m. – Montgomery County Police say the man who barricaded himself on the property of  a landscaping company in Silver Spring is an employee of that company, Brookeville Landscape Supply.

Police report that coworkers stated that the man retrieved a shotgun from his vehicle and pointed it at one employee outside the business. Witnesses also reported to police that the man fired shots into the mulch pile on the property.

Police said the man used mulch and other building materials to barricade himself on the property.

The Brookville Rd. incident has ended. Sadly, the barricaded male employee committed suicide with firearm. Major Crimes detectives on scene

ORIGINAL- Montgomery County Police are on the scene of a landscaping company in the 8900 block of Brookeville Road where there is a report of a man barricaded outside with a gun. Police Spokesperson Angela Cruz said the call first came over as shots fired. She said there are no reports of any injuries. Police are closing nearby roads to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The investigation continues.
