At about 11:15 p.m. on Feb. 25, 3rd District Officers responded to an attempted rape that had just occurred in the 1400 block of Hampshire Court West. The victim, a-20-year-old woman, had been walking in the area when she was approached by the man. He attempted to solicit her for sex, but she refused, according to a police report. The man allegedly pushed the victim into a wall and assaulted her. The victim was able to push the suspect away and attempted to flee, police said. The suspect allegedly forced the victim to the ground and attempted to rape her. The victim yelled and kicked the suspect off of her, according to police, and the man fled the area.

The alleged attempted rapist is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’08” tall, weighing 170 pounds, and approximately in his late 20’s to early 30’s. He has no facial hair and was last seen wearing a furry hat, a black jacket, and gray pants. Police believe this man was also involved in an indecent exposure incident prior to the attempted rape. In that incident, the suspect approached a 36 year-old female woman, attempted to solicit her for sex, and pulled down his pants, exposing his genitals to her, according to police.

Anyone with information about these crimes or suspect is urged to contact Special Victims Investigation Division at 240.773.5050. Callers may remain anonymous.
