Police Release Names of Shopping Center Shooting Victims (PHOTOS)
As Montgomery County police officers continue to investigate the two fatal shootings that happened on Friday, police have released the names of the two victims who died from their injuries.
According to police, one shooting occurred at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, where two men and one woman were wounded, and one later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased victim has been identified as 45-year-old Malcom Winffel of Boyds.
The second shooting occurred in a shopping center in Aspen Hill, where police said a woman was shot. Police have identified the female victim as 65-year-old Claudina Molina of Silver Spring.
A memorial in Aspen Hill Shopping Center has been created in memory of Molina.
Two GoFundMe pages have also been launched to assist the families of Molina and Winffel.
Meli Altamirano, who identifies herself as Molina’s daughter, describes Molina as “an active member of church, she was the sweetest mother, was always laughing and joking and could find the positive in everything. She will be missed more than words could ever say,” Altamirano wrote on the GoFundMe page.
A GoFundMe page for Winffel was created by a relative. On the GoFundMe page, Winffell is described as “an active member of his church and very involved in his children’s lives. Malcom was always laughing and joking and could find the positive in everything. He made everyone around him laugh. He will be missed more than words could ever say.”
Police say they are not releasing the names of the two injured persons from Friday’s shootings, as they are witnesses in the case.
Montgomery County police have charged the suspect in the shopping center shootings, Eulalio Tordil, with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and four counts of the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.
The suspect, Tordil, has also been charged by Prince George’s County police with first degree murder and related charges in connection with the deadly shooting of his estranged wife at High Point High School on May 5th.
Tordil is scheduled to have a bond review on Monday.
