Police Investigating Shooting of 2-Year-Old in Montgomery Village
Montgomery County Police continue to investigate the shooting of a toddler that happened in a Montgomery Village home on Saturday.
The Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call shortly after 5:00 p.m. stating that a 2-year-old boy had been shot in one of his lower extremities. The caller, who identified themselves as a family member of the victim, said that the shooting occurred inside a house located on the 19400 block of Brassie Place. The same person who called 9-1-1 also drove the victim to a local hospital for treatment. The child had non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
MCPD detectives interviewed multiple witnesses, including the victim’s family members, who were inside the home when the shooting occurred. Investigators found evidence that indicated that the toddler was shot while inside the house. After further investigation, authorities determined that the victim does not live at the home where the shooting occurred.
Detectives continue to investigate if the shooting was accidental or if it was a criminal act. Child Protective Services have been notified about this investigation.
Police ask that anyone with information about this shooting call 240-773-5770. Callers may remain anonymous.
