Police Investigating Check Fraud, Suspect Photographs Released

The Montgomery County Police Department has an open case regarding a check fraud incident.

After further investigation, police found that the victim mailed an envelope with a check for his rent from a post office in the Silver Spring area. One month later, the victim was told by his landlord that the check had not been received. After contacting his bank, the victim learned that the check had been cashed at a PNC Bank located on Connecticut Avenue in Northwest, Washington, D.C. The name and amount of funds on the check had been altered to nearly $9,000.

Surveillance photographs of the suspect who cashed the fraudulent check have been released.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-6830.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of these suspects.  Call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
