Police Investigate Serious Collision in Gaithersburg, Two Boys Injured
Montgomery County police officers are investigating a serious collision that sent three people, including two young boys, to the hospital on Saturday night.
The one-car collision happened at 9:30 p.m. in the area of Muddy Branch Road and West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg.
According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Infiniti with three occupants was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Muddy Branch Road when it struck a traffic island at the intersection of West Diamond Avenue.
Montgomery County fire and rescue crews transported three people from this scene to the hospital. Police said a 6-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. An 8-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, according to police.
Police have identified the driver as 28-year-old Ana C. Martinez De Sanchez of Gaithersburg. According to police, Martinez De Sanchez was also transported to the hospital for injuries described as not life-threatening.
In a press release, police said they are investigating if alcohol was a contributing factor to this collision.
