UPDATED: Police Charged Germantown Man With Homicide (PHOTO)

UPDATED Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. Montgomery County police have charged 22-year-old Ryan Anthony Salandy of Germantown with first degree murder in the death of 21-year-old William Dean McDaniel of Clarksburg.

Salandy is being held without bond. According to police, his bond hearing has been set for Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. in Rockville.

So far, no information has been released about a motive.

UPDATED Sept. 26 at 6:15 a.m. Montgomery County police are investigating the death of 21-year-old William Dean McDaniel who was struck by a vehicle in Clarksburg.

Police said it happened after noon on Friday in the 23000 block of Sweetspire Drive near Little Seneca Parkway. Police said responding officers found McDaniel deceased in the roadway and determined that the striking vehicle had left the scene.

According to police, less than 30 minutes later a person called the Emergency Communications Center and stated that the driver and the vehicle involved in the pedestrian collision were at a residence at Amber Ridge Circle in the Milestone area of Germantown. Police responded to that address and located the vehicle and the adult male driver.

Detectives continue to investigate this death and are conducting interviews of the driver and witnesses who saw the collision. Detectives are investigating the possibility that the victim and the driver of the vehicle knew one another.

ORIGINAL POST Montgomery County police and fire rescue crews responded to a serious pedestrian collision on Little Seneca Parkway on Friday morning. According to police, the Collision Reconstruction Unit has been called to the scene. Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer described the pedestrian’s injuries as “life threatening.” Authorities said there are road closures in the area while the investigation continues.
