UPDATED: Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Gaithersburg
Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred Saturday night in Gaithersburg.
It happened shortly before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Frederick Road and Christopher Avenue.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that an Agusta motorcycle was traveling southbound on Frederick Road when it struck a black Acura MDX making a U-turn from northbound Frederick Road to southbound Frederick Road.
According to police, the 35-year-old male operator of the motorcycle suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a Suburban Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police have identified him as Stanislas Alexandre N. Nignan, age 35, of Gaithersburg.
Police said the 48-year-old female driver of the Acura, and two female occupants, ages 82 and 52 were not injured.
The driver of the Acura is being identified by police as Amelia Siu-An Hay, age 48, of Vienna, Virginia.
