
UPDATED: 95-Year-old Woman Struck and Killed on River Road in Bethesda
UPDATED Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal collision that killed a Bethesda woman shortly before 7 p.m. on Wednesday night in the 5500 block of River Road.
According to the police department’s preliminary investigation, the woman, identified by police as 95-year-old Margaret McDowell Wydro was crossing River Road from south to north at Springfield Drive (toward the Kenwood Club) in the area of the marked crosswalk.
That’s when police said a 2007 BMW 335i was traveling east on River Road (toward Washington, D.C.) and struck Wydro. According to police, Wydro died from her injuries at the scene.
Detectives continue to investigate what the traffic signal and pedestrian crossing signal showed at the time of the collision.
This collision remains under investigation.
