Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Colesville

UPDATED police line do not cross for slider 450x280Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Christmas night in Colesville.

According to a police account, emergency rescue crews responded to the area of Randolph Road at Hammonton Place for the report of a collision at approximately 9:36 p.m. on Dec 25.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a 1996 Ford Mustang was traveling west on Randolph Road (towards Wheaton) when for reasons still under investigation, the driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang lost control of the vehicle, crossed two lanes and struck a 2007 Ford Mustang that was also traveling in westbound lanes of Randolph Road.

According to police, the 1996 Ford Mustang then crossed back across the lanes, striking the center median, driving onto the median and striking trees before coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of Randolph Road.

Police said the 46-year-old driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang was declared deceased at the scene. Police have identified the driver as Ronald Jerome Taylor of Silver Spring.

According to police, the driver of the 2007 Ford Mustang was not injured. He is identified by police as Austin Lee Sexton, age 29, of Laurel.
