Police Investigate Fatal Car Ax in Brookeville

Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal car accident that occurred overnight at New Hampshire Avenue near Greenbridge Road in Brookeville.

Police said the preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a white 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer was southbound on New Hampshire on Sept. 1 when the vehicle crossed the northbound lane, struck a tree and flipped over. Police were dispatched to the scene at 1:48 a.m.

According to police, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have identified the driver as George Anthony Veney, 54, of Upper Marlboro.

This collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
