Police Holiday Alcohol Task Force Made 41 Arrests During New Year’s
Montgomery County Police’s Holiday Alcohol Task Force officers arrested 41 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs over the New Year’s holiday, from Dec. 29 to Jan. 3.
According to police, the number of people arrested for driving under the influence actually was higher since these numbers only include the efforts of the police’s by the Holiday Alcohol Task Force. Other DUI arrests made by officers not on the task force were not included.
Of those 41 people, six were were arrested for driving under the influence following a collision, and four of the drivers arrested were transporting minors and therefore were charged with additional offenses, police said.
During the past seven weeks, members of the task force arrested 242 people for DUI. During the first seven weeks of 2019, the task force arrested 256 people, according to Montgomery County Vision Zero.
That is about the same number of arrests as the previous year, even though this year in-person dining at restaurants and bars was not permitted, according to Vision Zero.
