Police Charge Man for Germantown Home Invasion Robbery

Ronald Leroy Stevenson | MCPD

A 27-year-old Silver Spring man has been charged in the May 29 a home invasion robbery in Germantown, a Montgomery County police statement said.

About midnight May 29, two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, forced entry into a home in the 13600 block of Demetrias Way. A woman told Germantown police district detectives that she heard gunshots inside the home and went to investigate, police said.

Two men confronted the woman, threatened her with a handgun and demanded cash, police said. The men took items from the home and fled, police said.

Detectives determined that the men fired several shots while inside the home, and some of the bullets entered a neighboring home, police said. Responding officers checked on the residents of that home and no injuries were reported.

During the investigation, detectives developed Ronald Leroy Stevenson as a suspect, police said. On June 9, Stevenson of the 1000 block of Ruatan Street was arrested at a Germantown home and charged with home invasion robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.  He is currently being held without bail, police said.

Detectives urge anyone with information about the robbery to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
