Montgomery County police officers charged Daniel Read of Germantown with sexual solicitation of a minor on Dec. 3rd.

Now police are asking anyone with information about this case or Read to contact them.

According to a police account, in late October, a detective with the Vice and Intelligence unit created an undercover profile on a social media network posing as a 17-year-old, male high school student. Police said an individual, later identified as Read and using the screen name of “Dan”, contacted the detective and exchanged messages with whom Read thought was a juvenile. According to police, the detective exchanged several messages with Read and advised him that the juvenile in the undercover profile was actually 15-years-old. Police said Read continued to send messages to the undercover profile and expressed his desire to have sex with, what he now believed to be, a 15-year-old boy. According to police, Read arranged for a meeting at a McDonalds restaurant in Germantown.

On December 3rd, at approximately 7:30 a.m., police said Read arrived at the McDonalds located at 12982 Middlebrook Road in Germantown for the meeting. Detectives met Read in the parking lot of the McDonalds and arrested him.

Read was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor. He was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

Detectives believe there may be additional juveniles that Read has contacted. Investigators are asking anyone who may be a victim or who has information regarding Read’s activities, to call the Vice and Intelligence Unit at 240.773.5958.
